Curtis Jones was brought down by Martin Zubimendi with a poor challenge near the penalty box as he tried to approach the goal. Zubimendi was cautioned with a yellow card, while the hosts were awarded a free-kick. Nearly 25 yards from goal, Szoboszlai unleashed a thunderous shot which entered the goal through the right top corner.

Despite suffering an early setback that saw star defender William Saliba leave the pitch in the fourth minute of the match with an injury, the Gunners did well defensively and kept the high-flying Liverpool attack silent for the majority of the game. However, Szoboszlai's late free-kick goal made the difference as the Reds secured an important win at home.
