Newcastle fans have been left furious by Monday’s reports on Steve Bruce, who is reportedly set to take over at St. James’ Park after resigning from Sheffield Wednesday.
After Paul Joyce of The Times claimed Bruce and his assistants resigned at Hillsborough on Monday morning, it appears the Magpies have finally got their man.
Indeed, The Sun claim the deal is “likely” to be agreed, as Mike Ashley has sent over a fee of £4m to land Bruce, who is clearly trying to force the move.
While the deal is not completed yet, that compensation is expected to be sufficient after Bruce and his staff walked out on Monday morning.
Dejphon Chansiri is fuming at Bruce, claims the report, and understandably so – he has backed his recently hired manager with three new signings already this summer, and also allowed him to take a leave of absence before even taking over the Owls.
Newcastle fans are also furious, partly because they don’t want Bruce in charge, and partly at the underhand tactics both he and Ashley appear to have deployed in order to get their way.
