Leeds United’s striker situation heading into January is rather up in the air as it’s still uncertain as to whether or not Eddie Nketiah will be recalled by Arsenal or not.
Understandably, this has led to Leeds being linked with numerous strikers, and the most recent rumour doing the rounds is that the Whites are interested in Sam Cosgrove.
What’s the story?
The Scottish Sun have reported that the Whites are interested in signing the 23-year-old striker, and you can understand why Leeds would want a closer look at him.
He’s been in a rich vein of form this term, netting 20 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions. The Yorkshire outfit apparently sent scouts to watch him over the weekend, and they will have been impressed by what they saw.

Indeed, Cosgrove netted against Celtic on Saturday, but despite his incredible form as of late, the Whites may still want to steer clear of signing him.
Must steer clear
Cosgrove’s stats paint a pretty picture and make him look like a top-class striker. However, while Leeds could do with an attacker who can score at that rate, such is their expected goals return this season, Cosgrove isn’t the man for them.
He may be doing the business in Scotland, but his record in England is nothing short of atrocious even though he’s only played at an incredibly low standard.
Indeed, he’s appeared in 27 league games across the National League and League Two, scoring just once in that time.
With reports previously stating that he’s valued by Aberdeen at around £4m, Leeds must avoid making a costly blunder as Victor Orta puts his negotiating hat on.
Meanwhile, it seems as though Leeds have already found Jack Clarke’s successor.
